Description

The Opto-mechanical Engineer will develop precision opto-mechanical designs for semiconductor lithography, laser annealing and interferometer based inspection equipment. Work in a medium sized, technology driven company with full responsibility for design projects from concept to validation with opportunities to develop skills in design, assembly, alignment, characterization and system integration of large and small scale precision optical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Compile requirements, analyze concepts, conceive designs, and build and test prototypes.
  • Create parts drawings, assembly drawings, and models in SolidWorks.
  • Prepare and deliver design reviews, complete bills of materials, and execute engineering change orders to release assemblies.
  • Work with electrical, optical, and software engineers to integrate subsystems into designs.
  • Perform stress and thermal analysis and experiments to quantify and minimize error sources.
  • Interface with suppliers or outside engineering groups when needed to assure successful integration.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with experience or a Master's with experience or a PhD with related experience designing opto-mechanical systems. Must have knowledge of or formal course work in fundamental optical principles. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have experience with opto-mechanical system design, precision machine design principles and design for thermal stability
  • Proficiency with FEA for stress and thermal analysis
  • Must be familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing 
  • Experience with design of semiconductor capital equipment is desirable but not required
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and results clearly
