Description

Responsible for supervising the work activities of personnel assigned to Substation Engineering. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising activities related to the engineering design of new substations and upgrades to existing substations. Provide technical assistance to the maintenance organization as issues develop in the field.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises the work activities of personnel assigned to Substation Engineering. Ensure projects are reviewed for compliance with our goals and objectives.
  • Develop and coordinate the capital budget for all substation construction projects
  • Supervises the technical aspects of the substation design including site selection, bus layout, grounding, shielding and equipment selection.
  • Represents us on business related committees, engineering societies, joint study groups, and industry standards groups.
  • Responsible for the acquisition of land associated with Transmission Substation needs.
  • Act as the liaison between NH and CT in the development of Transmission Standards.
  • Supervises the qualification of prospective suppliers’ equipment materials, technical competence, and production capabilities.
  • Design and coordinate the integration of merchant generating plants into the NH electrical system
  • Responsible for the selection and use of engineering and construction contractors that will be utilized when the demand exceeds in house capabilities
  • Provide the maintenance organization with technical assistance with all aspects of substation design and equipment issues
  • Will have storm restoration and emergency assignments.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skills: A thorough understanding of substation engineering required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.

Experience: Direct engineering experience in electrical system design is required. Supervisory experience is also preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
