Job Summary 
The Technical Business Manager supports the sales force as a technical expert within the  sensing market across all brands. The Technical Business Manager is the key technical interface towards the customers and plays a key role in winning new projects together with the Sales/Senior Sales Managers. The Technical Business Manager works directly with the Technical Business team to understand what the customer needs and wants while also supporting the needs of the business. The Technical Business Manager will help expand the market for the region by identifying, analyzing, documenting and sharing knowhow of existing and potential applications. 

Principal Responsibilities 

• Work closely with the Technical Business team in Cologne, Germany to support the North American Market 

• Support sales on a high technical level to meet or exceed the revenue targets 

• Review tenders and request for proposals from clients and come up with a technical solutions and proposals 

• Provide analyses, reports and outlooks for existing and relevant future applications 

• Understand the fundamental needs of customers and develop compelling solutions for them 

• Work with Marketing and Communications to generate all application related materials such as case studies, articles, presentations, etc. to allow a clear and compelling communication with current and potential customers. 

• Support all projects upon orders closing through the full-service cycle 

• Travel to clients site for Kick-off meetings (i.e. pre-commissioning discussions) after a sale is closed to ensure successful experience for client 

• Acquire a complete knowledge of application products and technologies including an understanding of the relevant product and technology road maps. 

• Always look for ways to help and improve customer experience. 

• Travel to exciting locations and be a part of innovative projects

Qualifications - Skills – Experience 

• Bachelor’s Degree of Science: Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, etc. or equivalent Physics Degree 

• Experience in this discipline 

• Practical experience with assembly of electric devices (such as DTS monitoring system) 

• Excellent computer literacy. Practical experience with system administrative and IT structures. 

• Knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC etc.), SPS programming, Ethernet 

• Strong knowledge of distributed temperature sensing preferred 

• Previous experience with fiber optic fusion splicing unit is a plus 

• Strong understanding of the commissioning, installation and training of fiber optical based Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) devices. 

• Understanding of firmware and software 

• Practical engineering application of DTS and other fiber optic-based monitoring devices in the Energy T&D and/or Oil & Gas industries. 

• Design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precise technical plans & profiles, blueprints, drawings and models. 

• Team oriented

Travel Requirements 

• Approximately 50% annually, primarily within North America but on occasion internationally
